Justice for Tina Fontaine March and Rally

Northern FIRE participated in a nation-wide call for action regarding the death of Indigenous youth, Tina Fontaine. The rally, one of many taking place across Canada, took place after the man on trial for her murder was found not guilty. Organizers hoped to highlight the need for reforms in the systems that failed Tina Fontaine and many others like her.

“It is only through pressure from people like all of us here today that we’ll be able to give a voice to young girls like Tina and help put a spotlight on the need for changes required in the justice system, the police system and the child welfare system,“

International Women’s Day Breakfast Prince George

On March 4th 2017, women of Prince George came together for breakfast and inspirational talks to celebrate International Women’s Day. The breakfast had a large turnout, and raised over 600.00$ for Surpassing Our Survival Society (SOS), which focuses on sexual assault prevention and provides counselling services. IWDBreakfast2017PrinceGeorge2
