Health Needs of Northern Women 45 Years and Older

Who are Experiencing Precarious/Limited/Underpaid Employment Situations or who are Unemployed

RESEARCH PARTICIPANTS NEEDED


Purpose of Study

We want to hear from women who are experiencing precarious/limited/underpaid employment situations or who are unemployed.The purpose of this study is to learn the opinions of women living in northern BC in relation to their health, the social determinants of health (such as housing and income), and access to health care services.

Eligible Participants

Women who are

  • 45 years of age and older
  • Living in northern, BC
  • Experiencing precarious/limited/underpaid employment or unemployment
  • Fluent in English

What Participants are Asked to Do

All participants will be asked to complete a survey either in paper form or on-line. It is anticipated that survey completion will take 10 to 20 minutes. Participants in or near Fort St. John and Prince George are also invited to participate in one-on-one interviews or focus groups exploring their health needs. It is expected that interviews will take approximately one hour and focus groups approximately one and a half hours to complete. Interviews and focus groups will take place in Fort St. John and Prince George at locations that are mutually agreeable to participants and researchers. With permission of participants, interviews and focus group discussions will be audio-taped and transcribed for analysis.
